Inconvenient Interviews with Risa

Risa Sarachan chats with various accomplished artists about their work and their lives...at really inconvenient times.

Filmed and Edited by Ryan McKee

In my new interview I talk to highly acclaimed stage and screen actress Maria Dizzia, a recent Drama Desk Award nominee for best actress in the play BELLEVILLE, and a 2010 Tony Award nominee for her featured work in IN THE NEXT ROOM (the Vibrator Play). She’s been seen not only on stage but she’s also done brilliant work on television in LOUIE and LAW AND ORDER, and in the film MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE.  We chatted during one of her few free moments, while she was getting laser hair removal.

Here’s the second part of my interview, with the rest of the cast of HAND TO GOD!

Here is my fourth interview, a two part conversation with the cast of HAND TO GOD, the steaming hot show written by Robert Askins and directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel which will return for a longer extended run at ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE before moving to Broadway! In Part One, I interview Tyrone the puppet.  He is the star of the show but he’s super high maintenance! Check it out!

My third interview is with Greg Keller, an NYU Grad School educated actor as well as a Lila Acheson Wallace Playwriting Fellow from the Juilliard School. He has acted extensively On and Off Broadway, in film and on television.  His stage credits include 33 VARIATIONS at Center Theatre Group in LA with Jane Fonda, THE SEAGULL at Classic Stage Company in NYC with Diane Wiest and Alan Cumming, and he is currently appearing in CRADLE AND ALL at Manhattan Theatre Company with tony nominee Maria Dizzia.  He is a two-time winner of Le Comte Du Nouy Prize for his playwriting at Juilliard.  His play THE YOUNG LEFT was produced at The Cherry Lane Theater in 2008, and this summer his play DUTCH MASTERS will have its world premiere at Berkshire Theatre Festival. With all this success in the arts, what this self described jock loves best is shootin’ hoops. So the only way I could get a word with him was by spending an afternoon following him around on the basketball court!

More interviews are coming soon! In the meantime…

HERE’S ANOTHER INTERVIEW! IF YOU HAVE A FREE MINUTE CHECK IT OUT. OR IF IT’S AN INCONVENIENT TIME FOR YOU, AND YOU’RE SWAMPED WITH WORK, FAMILY AND FIGHTING WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER, TAKE A BREAK AND WATCH IT ANYWAY!

My second interview is with Bill Bowers, an American mime artist, actor and educator. Bill appeared on Broadway as Zazu in THE LION KING and Leggett in THE SCARLETT PIMPERNEL, as well as Off Broadway in sold-out extended run performances of his autobiographical play IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING. He has been seen in numerous regional theatres across the country, and featured in major films and television shows. He is an adjunct instructor at NYU. Bill studied with the legendary Marcel Marceau, and his major interest is in mime.  His original mime shows, NIGHT SWEETHEART, NIGHT BUTTERCUP and UNDER A MONTANA MOON, were produced Off Broadway and received critical raves. I caught up with Bill and we talked a bit while he was doing his daily Bikram Yoga.

HI I’M RISA.  WELCOME TO INCONVENIENT INTERVIEWS!
